Acting on a tip-off, the CID Forest Cell on Wednesday arrested an alleged Veerapan’s aide Venkataraman (58) from ‘Venkataiahna Chatra’ and seized an elephant tusk measuring three kilo. A case has been registered at Chamarajanagar police station. The team headed by Sub-Inspector Lakshminarashimaiah caught him red-handed when he was trying to sell the tusk to the officials, who were in the guise of customers. Police sources said the accused was arrested earlier for similar offense and was jailed.
