The state government will soon consult bar owners and frame guidelines on women serving liquor in bars and restaurants. The high court on Monday adjourned further hearing on a writ petition filed seeking a direction requesting the court to direct the police department not to harass establishments that employ women to serve liquor.

Advocate general Ravi Varma Kumar submitted before the court: ‘’The state government is planning to frame guidelines to regulate or monitor the employment of women for serving liquor and is likely to invite bar owners to elicit their opinion in this regard.’’ Justice Mohan M Shanthanagouder adjourned the case.
