City police arrest two for stealing ATF

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested two men who are allegedly involved in  stealing aviation turbine fuel (ATF).

A tanker (KA-03-B-8808), containing about 20,000 litres of ATF, barrels of 200 litres capacity, cans, a tempo, two bikes and other goods in all worth Rs 25 lakh have been recovered from the accused, police said.

The accused are M Devaraju (39), a resident of Marasandra village in Mandur, and Khadar, 32, of Varadapura village in Hoskote.

The police said the accuses are drivers and cleaners of tankers that transport ATF from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited at Devanagundi near Hoskote to the Bangalore International Airport.

During the transportation the two used to bring the tankers to a eucalyptus grove in Bagalur, open the hatch to steal the ATF using a plastic pipe.

Later, they were selling it for exorbitant prices in black market, the police added.  The Bagalur police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
