The Ministry of External Affairs declared June 24 to be observed as ‘Passport Seva Divas’ every year to commemorate the enactment of Passport Act in 1967. The online passport fees payment was launched at 18 more Passport Seva Kendras in the country on Monday.
The online payment facility, which aims to solve the non-availability of appointments will be extended to cover all PSK’s by 3 July, a statement from the Ministry stated.
Also, a mobile-based Passport Seva was also launched, which will offer tracking of application status and location of Passport Seva Kendra s as well as general information on all services offered by the Passport Seva Kendras.
Currently available on smart phones, the service will be available to other phone users shortly, the statement stated.
More than one crore passports have been issued till date through a network of 77 Passport Seva Kendras.
