Without a divine soul, you are just a void

Kashinath’s wife Rohini said, “Pujya Guruji, he always says that one is justified in fighting for justice.’

Shri Nimishananda Guruji smiled and said, “Again “Justice” is a relative term. “Eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth” was Hammurabi’s concept of Justice. But many people feel that this is too harsh.”

Kashinath asked, “Then am I not justified in doing this, Pujya Guruji ?”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji said, “When you bring in the “I” you can never be right.”

Venkatram said, “Pujya Guruji, in our real life…..”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji cut in sharply, “What do you mean by ‘real’ life?”

Venkatram said, “Our day to day life when we are awake.”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji said, “Why do you discount the sleeping and dreaming states? Are you not alive when you sleep and dream? So what is reality? You have so many mental images of yourself. Is any one of them more “real” than the other? They are all clouds that cover the sun. Apart from the divine soul within you, what reality do you have? Without that you are just Shunya - a void. This is not pessimism. It is the truth. Now let me pose a question to all of you - What am I without the Divine Mother? Without Her, will you still accept me? Think it over. Don’t answer aloud.”

Kashinath said - “I think I would.”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji once again cautioned him - “Don’t answer aloud.”

Kashinath repeated - “I think I would.”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji asked - “There are so many of you present here. Why are you saying “I” instead of “we”?

Kashinath said - “I can only speak for myself. I can’t answer for everybody.”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji said - “That is exactly what we are talking about. Where there is this sense of separation, there is duality. Where there is duality, there is relativity. Where there is relativity, each person’s ideas about truth are different. So there is no reality.

“As long as we don’t exist in duality, spirituality is the only reality. Everything else is relative and illusory.”
