Tragedy struck twice for the family of nine-year old Tayub, who was found hanging in a masjid in the city on Friday. Unable to bear his death, his grandmother Majan Bee (79) died of a massive cardiac arrest.
Police said that Majan, a resident of BTM Layout, was staying with her son Nawab and grandson Tayub on the masjid premises. Tayub was said to be very close to his grandmother. He was found hanging on the fourth floor of the Masjid-e-Muazzam in BTM Layout.
Nawab did not inform Majan about Tayub’s death. When she did not see Tayub in the house till midday on Saturday, she grew suspicious and enquired about him. She collapsed after learning that her grandson had died. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Police said Tayub was playing with some friends on the fourth floor of the masjid in the morning. After returning from school, he again went to the terrace and was playing. At that time, he might have accidentally hung himself while imitating bungee jumping. The boy’s family did not suspect anyone to be involved in the death and are awaiting the autopsy report. The Mico Layout police are investigating the case.
