City gets 8 cm rain in a day

The city received around 8 cm rain on Sunday. Five houses at Eshwara Temple in Dasarahalli were flooded as the drain, which was overflowing following the heavy showers, gushed into the houses.

The city received around 8 cm rain on Sunday. Five houses at Eshwara Temple in Dasarahalli were flooded as the drain, which was overflowing following the heavy showers, gushed into the houses.

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials said that water logging was reported in Kumara Park East and Ambedkar Colony, Anand Rao Circle in the evening.

Vehicular traffic came to a standstill at several places for hours. Heavy traffic was reported from around Jayamahal Road, Munireddy Palya, Byappanahalli, NGEF Layout, Shivajinagar, M G Road, Victoria Layout, Bannerghatta Road, Dairy Circle, Hosur, Hebbal, Palace Roads near Chinnaswamy Stadium and surrounding areas.

Water stagnation

The BBMP Control Room received complaints regarding water stagnation from Wilson Garden, Shantinagar bus stop and surrounding places, Silk Board and Shivajinagar.

The control room officials informed officers and messages were flashed on their wireless sets so they could attend to the complains on priority basis.

Power supply hit

Meanwhile, BESCOM control rooms had few complains regarding power disruption in some places.

Koramangala, Laggere, Yeshwantpur New Town, Banaswadi and Marathahalli were among the major areas which faced power disruption, the BESCOM officials said and added that they are taking steps to restore the electricity as soon as possible.
