Amid all the glamour, celebrities sometimes find themselves in a tough situation while dealing with obsessed fans. Actors may be safe, but actresses like Radhika Pandit, Sanjjanaa and Shweta Pandit have been targets of obsessed fans. The latest heroine to be allegedly harassed is Rachita Ram, who has shot to limelight after the success of her films Bulbul and Dil Rangeela.
Rachita claims that one Bipin Shekhar from Vijaynagar has been harassing her by calling through different phone numbers stating that she has to pay back `50,000, which was borrowed by her cousin Sumanth Gowda.
Rachita said initially she thought that it was a case of mistaken identity and did not take Bipin’s calls seriously.
“This guy has called me at least 25 to 30 times from nine different numbers asking me for the money. He also said that I was chatting with his sister Arpita on Whatsapp for the past couple of months. I would like to clarify that I don’t have any brother or cousin named Sumanth Gowda. We have maintained a certain distance from our relatives since a while. Also, I have stayed away from Whatsapp messaging service from December especially after hearing the traumatic episode of Radhika Pandit.”
“Interestingly, the guy says that I have been chatting from a pre-paid number which I have been using from college days. I patiently listened to him and explained that it is a mistaken identity case and somebody else might be chatting with him using my name, but he constantly kept calling and even threatened that he would go to the police,” she alleged.
When City Express contacted Bipin on Saturday, he spoke at length about the whole incident and gave the phone to his mother Geetha.
She said, “We know Rachita and her sister Nithya since their childhood days. They were coming to our house in Vijaynagar. Today, Rachita is a star. Since we know them, we have remained silent. But she is harassing my son by not repaying the money. I will make sure that he gets it back from her.”
Adding a twist to the tale, Bipin gave a completely different version on Sunday. He said he does not know who Rachita Ram is.
“I am earning a good salary and I don’t extract money through blackmail,” he said. Now that the matter has got weirdly serious, Rachita is seeking her family’s help in getting the problem solved. Her father Ramu said, “My daughter is in a position where she does not need to borrow money from anybody. I was surprised to know that Bipin’s family knows a lot about us. Though Bipin’s mother knows that I am a dancer by profession, she doesn’t know my name nor my wife’s name. I feel that someone known to us is behind the whole mischievous act. Now that I have stepped in, I will solve the matter.”
City Express has also come to know that Bipin has filed a complaint at Vijaynagar police station in this regard on Saturday. Since he did not have correct facts, he was sent off with a warning, it is learnt.
Rachita said, “I don’t know about him filing a complaint, but I will be going to the police to file a case, so that this whole incident will be on record and there is no further harassment.”
