Youth Killed As Car Topples into Lake

BANGALORE: An 18-year-old youth died and two others were severely injured when their speeding car toppled into a lake at Anekal on the outskirts of the city on Sunday morning.  

The deceased has been identified as Imdadullah, a daily wager, and the injured are Javed Pasha and Tabreez, all residents of Gourenahalli at Anekal.

Police said the incident occurred around 8.30 am when they were going to Anekal from Javarenahalli.

Near Doddakere lake, Mubarak, a mechanic who was driving, lost control of the vehicle. However, he managed to jump out from the car, which toppled several times over and fell into the dry lake bed, police said. Passersby who saw the mishap rushed to help and took them to the government hospital at Anekal. Imdadullah, who had received severe head injuries, was shifted to NIMHANS for further treatment, but died. Anekal police have registered a case of negligence against Mubarak.

Man Bludgeoned to Death

An unidentified man aged around 30 to 35 was found bludgeoned to death by unknown assailants at Ramamurthy Nagar near Old Post Office Road on Sunday. The police said the deceased looked like a daily wage labourer and assailants had smashed his face to conceal his identity.

An autorickshaw driver informed the police and told them he had seen two people fighting around 12.30 am when he was ferrying some passengers. On the way back, he found the body lying in a pool of blood. The identity of the deceased is not known. Ramamurthy Nagar police are investigating.
