A BMTC bus driver was severely injured when the speeding vehicle rammed a lorry, two cars and a motorcycle on Thursday morning at Nandini Layout.

It is suspected that a brake failure led to the accident and traffic was thrown out of gear for a while in the area.

Police said Venkatachalaiah, driving a Pushpak bus, was on his way to pick IT employees around 6.15 am. When he reached Saraswathipuram, he lost control of the vehicle as the road was slippery. The brake failed and the bus rammed a lorry and hit a two-wheeler and cars. Drivers of other vehicles had a miraculous escape.

Police rushed Venkatachalaiah to a hospital. Rajajinagar traffic police are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
