As many as 1.6 lakh cases including pre-litigation cases were disposed of at a recently concluded Mega Lok Adalat, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority said on Sunday.
Out of these, 65,000 cases related to local authorities like the BBMP, BDA, BESCOM and Revenue department. High Court Judge N K Patil stated, “This is a remarkable achievement, which results in the reduction of pendency in the Courts, gives quick relief to the parties and saves money for both the public and the government.”
High Court Chief Justice D H Waghela said the Lok Adalat was an ‘astounding success of the alternative disputes resolution system’.
