Bus Diversions Trouble Many

Several people were stranded at the Kempegowda Bus Station on Thursday evening as a large number of buses had been diverted for election duty by transport utilities BMTC and KSRTC.

According to officials, more than 3,000 buses have been provided to the Election Commission and the police in view of the elections. As a result, some inconvenience was inevitable on polling day, officials said. Normal services are expected to resume from Friday. BMTC officials could not be reached for comment.

Kumar, a regular bus commuter, said: “I usually catch a bus from Malleswaram to Yelahanka. Today, there were no buses. So I thought I would come to KBS to catch a bus. I have been waiting for more than 45 minutes now.”

Waiting time on Thursday was anywhere between 30 minutes and one hour for bus services.
