A 28-year-old service engineer was killed and three others severely injured on Monday evening when a speeding tempo collided with their motorcycles at Ramamurthynagar Outer Ring Road.

The deceased has been identified as Patrick, a native of Tamil Nadu. His assistant Ruben (25), software engineer Vivek Sharma (35) and carpenter Shankar (45) are the injured.

Police sources said the accident, which occurred around 5.30 pm, was the result of negligence on part of the tempo driver.

Patrick, who works as a lift service engineer, and Ruben were on their way home from an apartment at Nagawara. Shankar and Sharma, who hail from Punjab, were on their way towards K R Puram. Sharma was taking Shankar to his house for some carpentry work. A speeding tempo coming from the opposite direction collided with Patrick’s bike and then hit Shankar’s vehicle.
