The High Court on Wednesday reserved its order on a bunch of writ petitions challenging the land acquisition notice issued by the State government to acquire land for the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout.

Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) had issued a preliminary notification to acquire 4,814 acres and 15 guntas for the layout in May 2008 and a final notification towards the end of 2009.

Some of the land owners had filed a series of writ petitions challenging the application, contending that nurseries and brick kilns they had set up on on their lands were their only source of income. Justice Anand Byrareddy directed the BDA not to take over the nurseries unless they fell under certain zones or failed to meet the criteria to function as nurseries.
