Girl Molested by Madrasa Teacher

BANGALORE: A six-year-old girl has allegedly been sexually abused by a teacher at a madrasa in Chamundinagar in RT Nagar. The incident took place on Friday and the girl’s parents approached the police on Sunday.

The accused has been identified as Imtiaz (26), a native of Bihar, who has been teaching Arabic at the madrasa for two-and-a-half years. He has been absconding since the incident. Police sources said he asked the girl to stay back on Friday after her lessons, while other students left. He allegedly hurt her private parts and made her sit at the madrasa till evening.

Her parents picked her up later and the girl narrated the incident. She was taken to a government hospital, where doctors confirmed she was sexually harassed. The  parents met madrasa authorities on Saturday before approaching the RT Nagar police.

Woman Found Dead

A 33-year-old chartered accountant was found hanging at her house on Sunday.

The deceased, Soumya, was married to Mukesh, a 38-year-old medical representative. According to police sources, Mukesh and Soumya used to quarrel often. They were living on the first floor of their house, while Soumya’s parents lived downstairs. Mukesh had wanted to move to a rented apartment, but Soumya had refused.

Mukesh had not come home from work for the last four days. On Sunday morning, he called Soumya’s parents asking them why Soumya wasn’t answering her phone. The couple went up to check on her and found her body.

No suicide note has been found, police sources said.
