BANGALORE: HSR Layout police on Saturday confirmed the arrest of Rishwin Chengappa (26) who allegedly killed a 33-year-old HR manager Sourabh Rastogi.

Investigations revealed that Rishwin, who had a crush on Rastogi’s wife, wanted to marry her and thus decided to kill Rastogi. As the couple was about to move to the US on June 27, Rishwin, who learnt about this, went to Rastogi’s house last Sunday and killed him in his flat at Sun City apartment in Iblur. Following the incident, police verified the call details of Rastogi and his wife Ankisha and came to know that Rishwin was in constant touch with her. They picked him up for questioning. After being thoroughly grilled, he confessed that he was in love with Ankisha, but did not tell her.

Rishwin also told police that Ankisha helped him get over a break-up with a girl a few months ago, and the affection showed by Ankisha attracted him. In a bid to get closer to her, he had asked her to teach him accountancy and told her that he was pursuing MBA in correspondence. On the pretext of learning, he used to often visit her, police said.

They however ruled out the role of Ankisha in the case. However, she was asked to not leave the city till further investigations.
