Boom Time for MBA, MCA Courses in State

This year, the number of applications received for the entrance test for admission to MBA and MCA courses has reached 18,000, which is almost five times more than the previous year.

BANGALORE: This year, the number of applications received for the entrance test for admission to MBA and MCA courses has reached 18,000, which is almost five times more than the previous year.

As per the information available from Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), 17,906 candidates have registered to appear for the PGET 2014, which is scheduled June 30 at 19 test centres across the state. The number of candidates appearing for a similar entrance test conducted by private managements was 3,600.

Prof B R Ananthan, Vice Chancellor, Rani Chennamma University Belgaum, which is conducting the test this year said, “The number of applications received for MBA course are 12,575 and for MCA 5,331.”

The entrance test for MBA courses starts at 11 am and for MCA at 3 pm. The answer key will be published on July 1 and the rank list will be announced on July 7.  “We have decided to start the first round on July 12,” confirmed Ananthan.

The total number of MBA seats in 180 colleges across the state is 24,000 and MCA 7,000. Of that 50 per cent will be filled through PGET.
