The results of the second year Pre-University exams will be declared on Thursday (May 8).

“It is almost finalised to declare results on Thursday and if there are any technical problems, then it will be on Friday,” official sources in the Department of Pre-University Education (PUE) told Express.

As per the current schedule, the department is planning to announce the results on websites on Thursday and the same will be displayed at PU colleges on Friday. “We are having a meeting on Tuesday regarding this and the complete picture will be available after that meeting,” said Narasimha Nayak, Joint Director (Examinations).

Meanwhile, the department is expecting record results this time. According to officials and also teachers who evaluated papers, the overall pass percentage may cross 65 per cent

this time. “As per the feedback we have received from evaluators, students’ performance has been really good and the overall pass percentage may cross 65 per cent and may touch 70 per cent this time,” said a senior official.

“According to our observation and discussion with students, all the papers were easy this time. As it was the first batch to appear for examinations based on the CBSE syllabus, those who set question papers also seemed to be liberal,” said a lecturer who evaluated science answer scripts. This year (March/April 2014), 6,15,770 candidates took the examinations conducted at 948 centres across the state.
