A gang of five masked men allegedly barged into a BBMP contractor’s house in Remco Layout near Vijayanagar on Wednesday night and made away with gold ornaments and `5 lakh after threatening the family.
Police said that the gang members entered contractor B K Vinod’s house and threatened his family with lethal weapons around 10.15 pm. They locked them up in a room on the first floor.
Vinod’s brother Harish, a software engineer, came from work and the gang held him and snatched his gold chain, `5 lakh and gold jewels weighing 350 gram from an almirah before fleeing the scene.
A similar incident was reported on Sunday in Yelahanka, where the house of Govindan, a PWD contractor, was burgled.
Based on the CCTV footage obtained from both crime scenes, the police suspect the gang headed by notorious robber Kunigal Giri is involved. Vijayanagar police are investigating.
