After Quarrel, Driver Stabs Woman Techie

A 31-year-old techie was stabbed and injured by her car driver following a dispute over his salary in Electronics City on Friday.

The police are looking out for driver Hazrat Ali, absconding after the incident. The victim has been identified as Teja Nayak, a native of Karwar.

Teja, who works as a software engineer at a company in Electronics City, lives with her husband Yashwant Nayak in an apartment on Neeladri Road.

A few months ago, the couple had hired Ali as her driver and gave him `11,000 as advance. Ali used to drive her to office and back daily. On Friday, he reportedly asked her for his salary.

Teja told him that her husband was out of town and turned down his request, saying he had already taken an advance.

At this point, Ali picked up a quarrel with Teja. He took out a knife from his pocket and allegedly slashed her hands and ear and escaped. Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to her help and took her to a private hospital, where she is said to be out of danger.
