Five Women Robbed by Chain-snatchers

Five incidents of chain snatching were reported between 5.30 pm on Friday and 9.30 am on Saturday morning in Baiyappanahalli, Chennamanakere Achukattu, Kengeri and Peenya police station limits.

A 68-year-old woman, who had gone to a grocery shopping on Friday evening, was robbed of her chain weighing 60 gram. Two miscreants who came in a bike  stopped Savitri Reddy en route, snatched the chain and fled the scene. She is a resident of Kaggadasapura.

Baiyappanahalli police have registered a case and are investigating.

Savitramma, a resident of Kaveri Nagar, was returning home after buying rations when two bike-borne miscreants snatched her chain, weighing 80 gram, around 8.15 pm on Friday night and escaped. Chennammanakere Achukattu have registered a case and are investigating.

Forty-two-year-old Asha Kumari’s chain was snatched when she was returning after buying vegetables from a Reliance Fresh store.

According to the Kamakshipalya police, the miscreants allegedly followed her in an autorickshaw (KA 05 C 7328) and tried to snatch both her chains.

However, she began screaming for help and the miscreants escaped in the auto after snatching the chain weighing 15 gram.

Padmavathamma (42), a resident of Housing Cooperative Layout, was robbed of her chain weighing 50 gram when she was going to buy ration. The incident took place on Saturday morning at around 9.30 am, when two miscreants, who came on a bike snatched her chain and fled the scene.

A vegetable vendor, Leelavathi was selling vegetables on the roadside on NH 4 when her chain weighing 45 gram was snatched by two miscreants. She was opening her shop and was arranging vegetables on the footpath when a man came behind her and snatched her chain. He then ran to his friend, who was waiting on a bike, a short distance away and the two escaped.
