BANGALORE: A complaint has been filed in the magistrate court against actor Upendra, director Srinivasa Raju and executive producer Mohan over a film’s title. The complainant has also sought the seizure of the script and other documents related to the film Basavanna.
The petition states that the name of the film is controversial as it is perceived to be a reference to the 12th century social reformer. The film depicts a person holding a gun and other weapons, which is disrespectful to Hindu gods, states the petition. Despite the fact that other names were considered it did not clarify the perceptions regarding the film and that the film makers had made no effort to offer any clarification, the petitioner added.
