Cambridge School Reopens

BENGALURU: Indiranagar Cambridge School reopened on Thursday, over a week after the rape of a six-year-old girl was reported.

Although the school had assured parents of having implemented measures to keep the students safe, many parents seemed unconvinced and waited around the school for a while after classes began. According to school sources, there was 60 per cent attendance.

“I have decided to drop and pick up my daughter and to not leave her alone. The environment at the school has not become normal yet and I am concerned,” a parent told Express.

Some others have decided to wait a few days before sending their children back to the school. “The media is going to be there and there is going to be a lot of talk (about the incident). I do not want my nine-year-old daughter caught in this. She will probably hear all kinds of rumours and there will also be a lot of curious strangers near the school. I’d rather she stays home till Monday. I may start sending her to school from then,” said Hemalatha, another parent.
