BENGALURU: In a major decision BBMP on Friday decided to transfer all accounts department staff who have been working there for more than three years.
“We need to collect the details and they will be transferred,” said commissioner M Lakshminarayana. Mayor Shanthakumari and the Commissioner had conducted a valuation meeting with the BBMP accounts department on Friday.
The mayor told reporters that they shall conduct such valuation meetings with various departments once in ten days. “We have directed the commissioner to transfer any staffer, including peons, drivers, clerks and higher officials, from the accounts department working since three years,” she said.
Online Payment: All payments including salary to BBMP staff and contractors’ bill payments will be made online from December 1 the mayor said. This will help the Palike avoid misappropriation of funds and the payment system will be streamlined, she added.
The Mayor further said officials have been directed to update the cash register and submit the same at her office by Saturday afternoon. The cash register is a system at BBMP where account officials have to enter the name of recipients and payments everyday.
Lakshminarayana said an online software in which officials can monitor payments made online has been developed. “This will help avoid duplication of payments and other misappropriation of funds,” he said.
