BANGALORE: Government officials on Wednesday carried out a demolition drive at Halanayakana Halli water tank bed in Varthur Hobli and cleared encroachments on eight acres. The lake is spread over 79 acres and the approximate value of the encroached land is `36 crore.
According to Harish Nayak, Bangalore East Taluk Tahsildar, 10 houses, three sheds and roads connecting apartments had come up in the area. “The fencing around the lake area was broken and the land was taken over. There have been several complaints regarding the lake in the Lokayukta and the Lok Adalat,” he said.
