45th Annual Sports Meet At Valliammal

CHENNAI: Valliammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Anna Nagar East conducted its 45th Annual   Sports Meet on August 30 in  the  Valliammal College   playground.

The dignitaries on the   dais included chief guest K Anbazhagan, Kabbadi team India captain; chairman A P Maikandan; Principal Geetha Ramasubramanian and Vallavan. The day began with a welcome to the gathering by Aishwarya of Class 10 followed by the march past and the oath taking ceremony administered by sports secretary M Keerthivasan of Class 12.

There were various track events and parents’ events. The mass drill, aerobics, yoga, pinnal kollattam and karate display added zest and spirit to the celebration. The whole atmosphere vibrated with a strong house spirit during the prize distribution ceremony.

The chief guest congratulated the students on their spectacular performance. The next part of the day was colourful and the chief guest Rajini Krishnan, Indian Motor Cycle Road Racer, encouraged the students to participate and strive hard to reach the pinnacle of success.

Rajamanickam, the Physical Education teacher, presented the Sports Report 2014. Medals were awarded to the winners. The overall championship was won by the Cholan House and the Best March Past was bagged by Cheran House.

The vote of thanks was given by P Barathan of Class 12 and the day came to a close with the national anthem played by the school band.
