Modi's Speech Screened at Kolaperumal Chetty Vaishnav

CHENNAI: As per the CBSE circular to schools, Kolaperumal Chetty Vaishnav Sr Sec School made all arrangements for the students to view the address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the school children on Teachers’ Day (Sept 5).

The Vice-Principal of the school read out the Prime Minister’s message to the teachers, which was highly valued and appreciated by the staff and students.

The PM’s interaction with students was telecast by Doordarshan from 3.15 pm to 4.45 pm. Students of Classes 6 to 12 assembled in the ground, where two screens were set up for the students to view the live programme. The PM answered queries on the following issues — environment, education of girls, cleanliness, his childhood pranks, students’ contribution to nation building, conservation of electricity and water, maintenance of discipline, reading habit and respect for teachers.

This interaction was simple, crisp and straightforward and at times humorous. Students felt that such programmes should be telecast more often, but with subtitles in English so that students who do not know Hindi will understand its significance.
