BANGALORE: The Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) Bangalore and Central University of Karnataka, Gulbarga have signed an MOU to offer PhD programmes from this academic year. To improve research quality, ISEC will provide pre- PhD course work for doctoral students who join Central University of Karnataka.
Students who get admission at the Central University will spend six months of their course at the ISEC campus. During their stay in ISEC, they will attend classes to help them with qualitative research dissertations. ISEC will offer courses on perspective of socio-economic change, research methodology, econometrics, basic statistics, economics and development studies.
The university will recognise course work as part of the PhD programme. Even faculty members at ISEC will be recognised as guides by the Central university for awarding PhD degrees to its students.The MOU will explore possibilities to conduct joint masters and diploma certificate courses. ISEC has such tie-ups with over 15 national and international universities and institutions.
