Beauty Fixes from the Kitchen

Beauty Fixes from the Kitchen

As the heat gets intense, we hear voices of caution about just how damaging sunlight can be to the skin . The fact is that we don’t really need to shy away from the sun and there are many products that one can use to get rid of skin tan or to treat a breakout. But, if you are averse to using cosmetics, here are some really easy potions you can make from things easily available in your kitchen .

To deal with a skin tan, wash your face and  apply fresh curds. Keep it on for 15 minutes, gently rub into your skin with a little water and wash it off.  Another good natural bleach is honey. Mix honey with a few drops of lemon, apply for no more than 10 minutes and wash.

For a skin break out, the best remedy is neem paste with one powdered clove and a little sandalwood powder. Apply for no more than 5-8 minutes on the affected area. You can store the remaining paste in the refrigerator. And the best homemade recipe for an instant glow is a paste of chickpea powder (besan), a pinch of turmeric, milk and a teaspoon of almond oil. Apply and leave it to dry. Moisten your hands and scrub your face and neck. Wash and glow! Drink as much water as possible, eat all the seasonal fruits and start your day with a detoxing ritual of having a glass of warm water with lemon.
