Security, Traffic Arrangements In Place for Independence Day

The city police have made tight security arrangements around the Manekshaw Parade Grounds for the Independence Day ceremonial parade.

BENGALURU:The city police have made tight security arrangements around the Manekshaw Parade Grounds for the Independence Day ceremonial parade. 

City police commissioner N S Megharikh said that about 1,400 policemen and nine Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCPs), 16 Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACPs), 48 inspectors, and 101 police sub-inspectors and bomb detection and disposal Squad (BDDS) have been deployed around the ground. Six Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoons and two Rapid Action Force (RAF) platoons will be stationed too.

More than 56 policemen will keep an eye on the function through 40 CCTV cameras installed around the ground.

A total of 150 police personnel will be posted exclusively at the 25 passageways with door-frame metal detectors (DFMDs), 100 hand-held metal detectors (HHMDs) and under-vehicle search mirrors at all the gates. There are also eight explosive vapour detectors (EVDs) and anti-sabotage check squads comprising sniffer dogs along with other equipment.

Police have banned black cloths from being taken to the ground.

Visitors to the ground are requested not to bring mobile phones, helmets, cameras, radio, umbrella and any other equipment. All must be seated before 8.30 am.

Traffic Arrangements: The city traffic police has made traffic arrangements around the ground. Those who have yellow car passes will have entry from gate no 1 on Cubbon Road, while white car pass holders can use gate no 2 and invitees with pink passes should park their vehicles at the B R V Police Parade Ground and can enter through Gate No 3, while green car pass holders can park vehicles on Kamaraja Road and enter through Gate No 4 and 5. All government vehicles shall enter the venue from Gate No 1 on Cubbon Road and can park behind the Fort Wall on the South.

Participants of the events can enter through gate No 1.There is parking space for two-wheelers on the Eastern Side of Kamaraja Road and entry through Gate No 4 & 5 on Kamaraja Road.

Diversion

Traffic will be diverted from 8.30 am to 10.30 am from BRV Junction to Kamaraj Road Junction (both directions) on Cubbon Road.
