BENGALURU: The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is in the news again for all the wrong reasons. After two scams in the under-graduate and post-graduate examinations were busted, it has now come to light that the university  did not collect affiliation and admission fees from colleges in 2012-13.

According to documents available with Express, the university should have collected `6 crore as affiliation and admission fees from medical, dental, ayurveda and nursing colleges affiliated to it. But since it has failed to do so, the university’s finance officer has written to the registrar (administration) and directed the authorities to take appropriate action. The officer, in his four-page letter, has expressed concern about the “financial burden on the university” if the amount is not collected. He has stated that he is yet to receive information on the affiliated pharma colleges. He said it was surprising that the students of such colleges were allowed to write their examinations and that the colleges’ affiliation was renewed.

K S Sriprakash was the RGUHS vice-chancellor in 2012-13. Attempts to contact university officials went in vain, with the registrar not responding to calls.
