How Using Copper in the Kitchen Changed the way we Drink Water

I will not give you any personal stories about  how and why I decided to start using copper jugs to store water and magnetising water before drinking it but am listing out known benefits from trusted sources. Copper is lost from natural food sources (such as garlic, whole grain, soy, barley, nuts etc.) when stored for long periods in tin cans or if stored together with food high in acidic content. Which is why it becomes important to get your dose of copper from other sources. Water stored in copper vessels is an easy option.

Benefits:

  • Many of you may have grandparents who still believe in using copper vessels to store their water in. And they possibly do so for the following reasons:
  • Storing water in copper vessels eliminates free radicals. Secondly, copper, when dissolved in water in minimal amounts, makes the water ionic (electrolyte) and this renders the water unsuitable for breeding bacteria and viruses. The pH balance, in other words, changes.
  • Copper helps your body to better utilise iron supplements. Which makes sure that your spinach and beetroot and bitter gourd nutrients are being absorbed into the blood stream.
  • Copper helps in the production of melanin so skin pigmentation can be a thing of the past. Which means it also arrests greying of hair. It also maintains bone and connective tissue. You heal faster, you mend more easily. Which means you are naturally buffered against bone depletion, osteoporosis, arthritis and other muscle and bone degenerative disorders.
  • Copper controls bad cholesterol and allows the increase of beneficial cholesterol.
  • Copper ensures the correct functioning of the thyroid gland.

How we do it?

  • We normally use a cloth filter to collect the water, then boil it, cool it and store it in copper jugs and consume it as required. All the water you drink need not be stored in copper though. You can distribute your water consumption, half of copper water, half of regular boiled water.
  • We drink one big glass of it at least on an empty stomach, just after we have had our amla juice, that is.

What have we noticed?

  • Better digestion.
  • Stronger immunity.
  • Faster recovery from seasonal illnesses if any.
  • Brighter skin and shinier hair. People with acne and other skin issues.
  • Stronger nails.
  • Increase in stamina.
  • Regular bowel movements.

We have also noticed

  • The water tastes fresh, like we just scooped it up from a fresh water well, or better, a natural spring.
  • It quenches thirst far better than water kept in the fridge does. We have completely given up storing water in the fridge.

Keep in mind

  • Some people also boil water in copper vessels at a controlled temperature but I will not comment on that bit because I have not found any verified sources that recommend this practice.
  • Pregnant women, please note. Copper is anti-microbial, sort of like a natural anti-biotic. Check with your doctor before starting on this process. In all likelihood, you will be told to not consume copper water if you are expecting a baby.
