BENGALURU: JD(S) candidate Rakesh Jain, who was aspiring to contest the BBMP election from Kacharakanahalli ward, attempted suicide on Tuesday after his nomination was rejected by election officials. Jain is now recovering in a private hospital.
Police said Jain had filed his nomination on Monday. He was shocked when he later came to know that his nomination had been rejected as he had not submitted proper documents.
Upset about this, he consumed some tablets in his house.
His family members saw him lying unconscious and rushed him to a private hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
Banasawadi police have taken his statement and further investigations are on.
