BENGALURU: The monthly meeting of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was postponed on Monday due to the model code of conduct in force due to the upcoming elections to the ligislative council.
Before this, Mayor B N Manjunath Reddy said awareness programmes are being taken up to encourage waste segregation in the city. As part of the programme, 12 troupes will perform street plays in various parts of the city. “Radio and other media will also be involved for the purpose,” he said.Reddy said continuous generation of waste and lack of segregation had forced BBMP to shut down dumpyards in Bingipura and Mandur.
In a recent circular, Special Commissioner for Solid Waste Management(SWM) had noted that lack of segregation had caused financial losses to the waste management plants set up by the civic body.
