Trio Held for Trying to Sell Red Sanders

BENGALURU: Three persons who were trying to sell red sanders worth `9 lakh were arrested near Sudhama Nagar on Tuesday night.

The arrested have been identified as Naveen, a resident of Kengeri, Tabrez Ahmed, of Bodhigere Cross, and Mohammed Farooq, a native of Chikkamagaluru. A police source said, “One of our informants told us that red sanders were often brought to be sold in the city, and that the business usually happens in an isolated place near Sudhama Nagar. Based on the information, two of us posed as timber merchants and contacted the red sanders. The trio took the bait and brought 210 kg of red sanders in a car.”

The source said the trio are being grilled about the smuggling racket in the city. A case has been registered at Wilson Garden police station.
