4K Booked for Traffic Violations

BENGALURU: In a special drive conducted by the Bengaluru City Traffic Police on Thursday, 4,619 people were booked for traffic violations in just two-and-a-half hours.

Additional Commission of Police (Traffic) M A Saleem said the violations included riding without helmet, talking on mobile phone while driving, not using seat belts, and jumping signals. The areas covered included Majestic, Malleswaram, KR Market, Basaveshwar Nagar, Richmond road, Cubbon Park, Shivanadna Circle and Hebbal.

One Killed: A 45-year-old woman died while her son, a techie, was severely injured after a speeding autorickshaw rammed into their bike in HSR Layout on Wednesday. Police said the auto diver was under the influence of alcohol. The deceased, Saraswathi, was a resident of HSR Layout. Her son Prasad is recovering in a private hospital.

Man Tries to Kill Wife, Arrested: A 45-year-old man attempted to kill his wife at K S Layout on Thursday suspecting her fidelity.

The couple, Raju and Gangamma, have two children. Police said Raju picked a quarrel with Gangamma. In the melee, he took a knife and slit her throat. She started screaming and Raju fled. Neighbours took Gangamma to a hospital where she is stable. KS Layout police have arrested Raju.
