Train Cancellations On the Rise

BENGALURU: The Chennai division of Southern Railways has fully cancelled seven more trains on Thursday, two trains have been partially cancelled and a few trains have been rescheduled as platforms are inundated in Chennai.

However, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation is running its buses on time to ferry passengers out of Chennai. The KSRTC said that it is running extra schedules from Bengaluru to Chennai, in addition to the existing schedules.

On a normal day, KSRTC operates around 42-43 schedules from Bengaluru to Chennai. It has added eight more schedules to it, so that more buses could reach Chennai.

KSRTC spokesperson said, “The buses from Bengaluru travelling to Chennai are going vacant as there are not many passengers. However, KSRTC is bearing losses and sending more buses to Chennai, as the number of passengers travelling out of Chennai is more and extra buses are needed for plying them out.”
