French Company Invests Rs 20 Crore in State's Gherkin Industry, to Create 50 Jobs

BENGALURU: Gherkin production in the state just got a push from Paris. The Karnataka Government has signed an agreement with Reitzel Group, a Paris-based family owned company.

Gaurav Gupta, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director of  Department of Industries and Commerce, signed the agreement on behalf of the government while Pierre B Darmon, Deputy CEO, Reitzel signed on behalf of the European company.

An investment of  Rs 20 crore was made to develop the plant in Kunigal.This move  result in 50 news jobs, in addition to the already existing 200 jobs.

RV Deshpande, Minister for Large and Medium Industries, is leading a high-level delegation to USA and France as a precursor to Invest Karnataka 2016 Global Investors Meet scheduled to be held Bengaluru in February. French companies have invested about $4.5 billion through FDI since 2000, which makes it the 9th largest FDI contributor to India. More than 150 French companies are headquartered here.
