Two Arrested for Robbing Cabbie

BENGALURU: The Jalahalli police on Wednesday arrested two men for robbing a cab driver at knife-point recently.

The accused are Suresh alias Suri (27) of Arasikere taluk and Shankar Murthy alias Shankar (23) of Alur taluk, both in Hassan district. In a complaint lodged in November, Suresh Babu, a Uber driver, stated that he was on his way back home after his last trip.

Near Kalingrao Circle, Babu stopped the cab to speak on the phone when two youths approached him on a two-wheeler. They pulled out a knife and, after threatening Babu, they took away the car and his mobile phone.

Police have recovered the car and mobile phone. A case has been registered.

Chain Snatchers Held

Kadugodi police have recently arrested three people on charges of snatching chains. The accused have been identified as Praveen Siddaiah (23) of Kanakapura, Prajwal Pillappa (22) of Anekal and Gurrappa Eerappa (35) of Bengaluru Rural district.

With this, police have solved seven cases of chain-snatching that were registered at Mico Layout (four cases) and one each in Koramangala, Kodihalli (Ramanagaram district) and Sathanur.

In all, seven gold chains worth `5.5 lakh have been recovered from the accused. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.

Bus Rams Into Two People

A BMTC Volvo bus rammed into a motorist and an autorickshaw driver in Airport Road police limits on Thursday evening.

The motorist has been identified as Nirmala. The auto driver is yet to be identified. However, both are said to be out of danger.

According to police sources, the bus was on its way to ITPL from K G Nagar when the  driver lost control of the vehicle. The driver, Chandrashekhar, told the police that the brakes had failed him. A case has been registered against him.

Duo Held for Peddling Drugs

Bengaluru: The Kadugodi police have arrested two men on charges of peddling drugs near MVJ College on Channasandra Main Road. The accused are N Srihari (23) of Nizamabad and K Arjun (28) of Ongole district in Andhra Pradesh. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the duo and seized ganja, LSD paper, a mobile phone and `4,500 cash, totalling `1.5 lakh from them. A case has been registered.
