Duo Arrested for Murder of Former BEL Employee

BENGALURU:  Vidyaranyapura police on Friday arrested two men for allegedly killing a retired BEL employee. They are said to have dumped the body of former BEL Deputy General Manager Rajaram near Madhugiri and set it afire.

The accused have been identified as Mahesh, a resident of Jayanagar, and Mohan, a native of Assam. Police said Rajaram had been missing for a few days.

While being questioned, Rajaram’s daughter Madhuvanti told the police that she had, a year ago, sent Mahesh to collect some property documents from Rajaram. Rajaram had been living alone after his wife’s death in 2013. Madhuvanti had moved out of the house as she was upset with her father for not taking proper care of her mother when she was ill.

A year ago, Rajaram called and asked her to collect some documents to register his  property in her name. She asked her friend Mahesh to collect the documents from Rajaram’s house in Vidyaranyapura. Mahesh met Rajaram a couple of times but the latter kept insisting that Madhuvanti come.

Police said this angered Mahesh, who hatched a plan to kill Rajaram and get the property registered in his name instead.
