Bengaluru Cops Arrests Neighbour for Raping 7-year-old

Police arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in C K Acchukattu.

BENGALURU:  Police on Sunday arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in C K Acchukattu on Friday.

The arrested is Lakshman D, an auto driver. Police said, “Lakshman, who was known to the victim’s family lured the girl with chocolates. He took her to a isolated place and sexually assaulted her. He also threatened her to not reveal anything about the incident with anyone.”

On Friday, the victim’s father had gone to work while her mother had gone to a relative’s home. The mother had asked her neighbours to take care of her child and had told them she would return soon. On her return, she found her daughter crying and complaining of stomach pain. When the child did not stop crying even by evening, her parents took her to a clinic and then to a hospital.

The doctors confirmed she was sexually assaulted. The parents then filed a complaint with the C K Acchukattu police, who launched a manhunt to nab Lakshman.

On Sunday, police traced the accused at a relative’s house by tracking his mobile phone.

DCP (South) B S Lokesh Kumar said, “The accused lived near the victim’s house. Both families knew each other for a long time.” Police have subjected both Lakshman and the victim to a medical examination. Lakshman was booked under POCSO and has been remanded to judicial custody.
