BENGALURU: A 24-year-old dentist died after she was hit by a truck near Kothanur village in Chikballapur in the wee hours of Monday.
The incident took place when she got out of her car to check on her friends, whose car had been hit by a truck.
The deceased has been identified as Jelin Rose, native of Kottayam in Kerala and a resident of Mangaluru. Rose and her eight friends were travelling in two sports utility vehicles when one of the cars collided with a truck parked on the road. Though the front part of the car was completely damaged, the people inside escaped with minor injuries.
Rose had gotten out of the car to check on her friends. She was crossing the road when a speeding truck hit her, killing her on the spot. “Soon after the accident, the driver managed to escape the scene,” a police source said.
