5-year-old Drowns in Water Sump

BENGALURU:  A five-year-old boy drowned after he fell accidentally into a water sump at his neighbour’s house in Yelahanka New Town on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Madesha, son of Kondappa Pujari and Renuka. The couple, who hail from Kalaburagi, were residing in a shed at Tirumalanagar.

Police said Madesha fell in when he was playing in the evening near the 12-feet sump, that was kept open.

It was when his parents, who were occupied at an under-construction building site, went in search of him that they found his body floating in the sump and alerted the police.

Case of Negligence

The contractor, Nagaraj, had asked the neighbour to provide water for construction work and thus the sump was kept open.

Yelahanka New Town police have registered a case of negligence against Nagaraj and investigations are on.
