Exotic Fruits on Sale at Lalbagh Fair

BENGALURU: Exotic as well as ordinary fruits and vegetables from 14 states will be on sale at a unique inter-state ‘Horti Fair Sangam’ to be held at Lalbagh from January 9 to 11.

Horticulture Department Director S P Shadakshariswamy told reporters on Tuesday that farmers producing oranges, kinnows from Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, North Eastern states, West Bengal and Karnataka will be major participants at the event.

Grape and pomegranate growers of Karnataka and Maharashtra, spices and horticulture-based processed products of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, colour capsicum growers and fruit product industries from Karnataka will be among others taking part.

The event is being organised by the National Horticulture Board, Ministry of Agriculture, and the Department of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka.

Horticulture research and development agencies, bankers and service providers will share their technological expertise in the field of horticulture with the farmers.

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh will inaugurate the fair.

Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Ananth Kumar, State Minister for Horticulture and Agricultural  Marketing Shamanur   Shivashankarappa and others will be present.
