'A Khata Given to Park, Government Land'

BENGALURU: Officials of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike have issued ‘A’ khata for land specified for a park and government land in Rajarajeshwarinagar (RR) zone, Chairman of BBMP’s Standing Committee on Personnel and Administrative Reforms M Krishnappa alleged on Wednesday.

He told reporters that 35 khatas have been issued to various individuals for 65 acres 35 guntas at Mallathahalli in the zone. Of which, close to four acres are specified for a park and government land (B kharab). In no way, one can issue khatas to these lands, he said.

Krishnappa added that files related to these khatas were procured for a khata jaatha (khata fair) recently.

“When we inquired about issuing khatas to park land, the officials did not answer properly. They blamed the City Municipal Corporation (CMC) officials as this region was a CMC area earlier,” he said.

“Later, we got the details from Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) and found that these khatas have been issued last year on a single day,” he added.

“The officials have issued khatas without taking betterment charges of `18 crore for properties other than the park and government land. We suspect that officials are involved in this,” he said.

He demanded BBMP Commissioner to take action against the officials involved. “The Commissioner should file a case with Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force. If not, we are going to file a case with the Lokayukta,” he said.
