Groups to Bake goodies to Save Stray Dogs

QUEEN'S ROAD:If you are looking for something sweet this weekend, head to  Rangoli Metro Art Centre, where you can not only taste some of the best desserts, but also help a few stray dogs.

The Voice of Stray Dogs’ (VOSD), a stray dog rescue service, is organising the Republic of Dogs Bake Sale where some of the best pâtissiers and home bakers from the city will bake cupcakes, brownies, tarts, cookies and more. And all for a good cause.

The Voice of Stray Dogs’ is a privately run registered and not-for-profit organisation which rescues and treats strays for free.

It has four dedicated rescue vehicles and provides vet services including MRIs, X-rays, diagnostic support, surgery and runs a rehabilitation centre. VOSD has so far treated and rescued over 4000 stray dogs in the city.

Republic of Dogs Bake Sale will feature some of the pâtissieries like Fava, Caperberry, Cake My Heart, The Winking Macaron, Neffys, Amande, dessertfirst, Ovenderful, Konfection Konnection and The people’s art cafe.

“We collected around `70,000 last year and are expecting to sell around 1,000 to 1,250 deserts at the event this year. We will have two stalls where we are going to sell desserts priced around Rs 100 each. The proceeds will go towards treatment of stray dogs in the city,” said Swaroop lawrence, one of the orginising members.

The Republic of Dogs Bake Sale will be held at the Rangoli Centre near the MG Road Metro Station between 10 am and 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
