A welcoming, nurturing institution

Indian High School was established at Basaveshwaranagar in 1978 with a strength of just 36 students by MA Ananda- founder of the school and President of the Karnataka Private School Association. Indian High School is run under the umbrella of Indian Education Society.

The vision of the founder is to empower children from different backgrounds with quality oriented education to face the competitive world.Today the total strength of the students is around 3000 with 125 teachers and 35 members in the non-teaching staff. The school is affiliated to State and ICSE syllabus. The teacher and student ratio for lower primary is 1:30 and for high school is 1: 40. The coeducational institution boasts  high academic standards inclusive of co-curricular standards. A well-developed educational system has been created for students from   pre-nursery to class ten.

Indian High school focusses on developing an enthusiastic child, motivated to learn and eager for success in a conducive environment replete with ethics and values. Originality, creativity and innovative ideas of the children are encouraged. Discipline and  character building are overseen by well-trained and inspiring faculty members who update their teaching skills to keep up with changing times.

Educational objectives are achieved with latest technological innovations. The teaching staff goes through a refresher course periodically, helped by professional trainers during seminars and workshops. One of the most unique features is that most of the teaching staff has been working for a long duration in the school and this facilitates a good rapport with students.

Students regularly take part in co-curricular activities like indoor and outdoor  games, yoga, bhajans, reciting shlokas, meditation, etc. The school also conducts calligraphy classes to improve their hand writing skills. The students are exposed to practical experiences via various excursions, picnics to rural areas et al. The school also has a Maths club, a Science club and an Art & Activity club which stimulate ideas and inspire students. Every week, a club undertakes activities pertaining to their subjects. “The students also participate in various inter-school science competitions and have won many prizes and brought laurels to our school,” says Principal HM Sowbhagyalakshmi.

On Environment Day, students undertake a marathon around their school premises with flash cards and posters to create awareness regarding pollution and  other issues. Apart from this, they also plant saplings around their school. All religious festivals are celebrated and their importance and significance explained in the assembly.“The school wholeheartedly supports RTE and for the current year 2014-15, admissions have been provided to RTE applicants as per the government norms,” says Founder MA Anand.
