BENGALURU: The north division police have booked rowdies Sampath Rao and Purushotham under the Goonda Act for allegedly setting vehicles afire and several other crimes.
According to a police source, there has been a rise in instances where vehicles parked in front of houses are set afire. Seven such incidents were reported in Mahalakshmi Layout and Basaveshwara Nagar police limits recently.
Sampath Rao alias Ashok alias Matthi, a resident of Basaveshwara Nagar, is involved in 18 cases including murder, attempt to murder, extortion and attempted robbery. Purushotham alias Bilal, a resident of Shankar Mutt, has 14 cases registered against him. Both have been sent to judicial custody.
