Thief With a Fancy for Scooters Arrested

BENGALURU: South East police have arrested 47-year-old Idayath, who had stolen 61 two-wheelers across the city. Police said he was selling the stolen vehicles to rural people around Hosur, Chandapura and Jigani after warning them not to bring the vehicles to the city. Police have recovered booty worth `21 lakh. 

A police officer said Idayath, a resident of Yarabnagar in Banashankari, was particular about Honda Activa and TVS Scooty as there was more demand for them. He used to lift the vehicles parked in front of houses and commercial complexes using duplicate keys. Over the last two years, he has stolen 61 vehicles in Hulimavu, Basavanagudi, JP Nagar, Kumaraswamy Layout, Banashankari, Kalasipalya, and Bannerghatta.
