Fog cover delays flight ops at Bangalore airport

Some incoming flights were diverted to other nearby airports.

BENGALURU: A dense fog cover over the Bengaluru International Airport resulted in the closure of airport operations on Tuesday morning, from 5 AM to 8.25 AM.  As many as 55 flights, including three international flight operations were hit due to the unforeseen happening.
 
According to airport officials, the airport operations were resumed at 8.25 AM. Some incoming flights were diverted to other nearby airports. 

Closure of airport for over three hours in the morning is likely to have cascading effect on the flights operations till evening.
 
Meanwhile, the BIAL had canceled weekly runway maintenance work taken up on every Tuesday afternoon for one hour from 12.30 PM. “This is being  done to ensure that flights are not delayed further,'' the official said.
